Summary:The modes of vibration and sound radiation from tuned church bells, carillon bells, handbells, ancient Chinese two-tone bells, and temple bells will be compared. Most bells have a circular cross section, but many ancient Chinese bells do not, and thus they have two different strike notes, depending upon where they are struck. The musical interval between these two strike notes is often near a minor third or a major third.
