Gamma luminescence of Pr3+- and Ce3+-doped yttrium aluminum garnet crystals

We have studied the gamma luminescence of undoped and Pr 3+ - or Ce 3+ -doped Y 3 Al 5 O 12 crystals gamma-irradiated at 77 and 300 K. The results demonstrate that, depending on temperature, three excitonassisted activator luminescence excitation mechanisms are possible in YAG crystals.
