Description
Summary:The aboriginal form of the Prussian carp in lakes and rivers in the south of Western Siberia is currently being replaced by the Amur forms of the same species introduced into the water bodies of the region in the late 1970s. We analyze the genetic diversity of this species in Southern Siberia based on the polymorphism of a D-loop fragment of mitochondrial DNA (460 bp) and reveal the presence of two haplogroups, one of which (B) is extremely rare in South East Asia and is likely an indicator of the autochthonous forms of the Prussian carp, and the other (A) is similar to haplotypes typical of the Far Eastern populations.
