Summary:Specific thrust of a synthetic jet based on a dielectric barrier discharge generated by a symmetric actuator has been measured. The dependence of the specific thrust on the distance between exposed electrodes at various applied voltages has been studied. The role of convection at various distances between exposed electrodes has been qualitatively assessed by schlieren imaging of synthetic jets.
