Extraction of molybdenum from nitric acid solutions with tributyl phosphate

The behavior of Mo(VI) in the aqueous HNO 3 -TBP system was studied in relation to the concentrations of the system components. The IR and UV spectra of the extracts were analyzed. Description
Summary:The behavior of Mo(VI) in the aqueous HNO 3 -TBP system was studied in relation to the concentrations of the system components. The IR and UV spectra of the extracts were analyzed. Experiments were performed on precipitation of Mo(VI) from aqueous HNO 3 solutions and on dissolution of molybdic acid in TBP in the presence of moisture and HNO 3 and without them. Based on the data obtained, a conclusion was made that Mo(VI) is predominantly extracted in the form of hydrolyzed oxo complexes tending to oligomerization in the extract, with water and HNO 3 participating in the formation of the extractable species.
