Polyfunctional imidazoles: V. Synthesis of 1-aryl-4-chloro- 5-di(tri)fluoromethyl-1H-imidazoles

1-Aryl-4-chloro-1 H -imidazole-5-carbaldehydes and 1-aryl-4-chloro-1 H -imidazole-5-carboxylic acids reacted with sulfur(IV) fluoride to give, respectively, 1-aryl-4-chloro-5-difluoromethyl- and 1-aryl-4-chloro-5-trifluoromethyl-1 H -imidazoles.
