) are reported. Facile acid-catalyzed reaction of 2,7-disila-1,3,6,8-tetraoxa-2,2,7,7-tetraphenyl-4,5,9,10-dibenzocyclodecane (

) with water gives 1,3-di(2-hydroxyphenoxy)-1,3-disila-2-oxa-1,1,3,3-tetraphenylpropane (

). The latter in turn decomposes in a base-catalyzed reaction to give a mixture of
