Summary:The preparation, spectroscopic characterization, and conformational analysis of a series of Co(III) indenyl complexes, (C 9 H 7 )CoIR f L (R f  = C 3 F 7 , C 6 F 13 , L = CO, P-donor), 2–8, are described. I3 C and 1 H NMR parameters are consistent with a slightly distorted -η 5 -C 9 H 7 coordination. 1 H nuclear Overhauser effect difference (nOed) spectra indicate a preferred solution conformation in which the perfluoroalkyl group is trans to the C 3a —C 7a ring junction.
