Summary:We study a (2 + 1)-dimensional nonlinear Schrödinger equation in an inhomogeneous graded-index grating waveguide, and obtain an exact two-breather solution for certain functional relations. Two-Kuznetsov-Ma solitons can be constructed by selecting suitable parameters in this exact two-breather solution. Moreover, we can change the propagation type of two-Kuznetsov-Ma solitons by modulating the relation between the maximum effective propagation distance, Z m , and the effective propagation distance, Z 0 , based on the center of the two-Kuznetsov-Ma solitons. The controllability for the type of excitation such as partial excitation, sustainment and limitation of the two-Kuznetsov-Ma solitons is demonstrated.
