Reduced Lasing Threshold in Thiophene/Phenylene Co-Oligomer Crystalline Microdisks

Summary: | Circular microdisks 2, 4, and 8 μm in diameter were made of thiophene/phenylene co-oligomer (TPCO) crystalline thin films. Vapor deposition at 120 °C forms high-quality TPCO crystalline films. Lasing threshold is reduced by both the improvement of crystalline quality and decrease of the diameter of microdisks. Threshold reduction caused by the decrease of the diameter reflects the decrease of number of whispering gallery modes and increase of the cavity mode separation according to cavity quantum electrodynamics. |
