Photoluminescence of Eu 3+ in CaS:Eu Phosphor

New emission lines from Eu 3+ centers aside from the main broad-band emission from Eu 2+ in CaS-doped EuF 3 were found at 10 K. The intensity of these emission lines increases after annealing in a mixed gas of Ar and O 2 . The origin of the emission might be related to interstitial O 2- or F - .
