The unstable resonator with a stable resonator core

A new type of the laser resonator, the unstable resonator with a stable resonator core, is proposed. The simple analysis using Kirchhoff diffraction equation revealed that this resonator is suitable for the low gain, large aperture laser medium such as the chemically pumped oxygen-iodine laser.
