Summary:New photorefractive crystal is described which can be easily sensitized to near infrared radiation by pre-illumination to incoherent white light with moderate intensity. The gain factor up to 7 cm -1 and the response time down to 10 ms are measured for unexpanded beams of CW radiation of a 1.06 µm Nd 3+ :YAG laser with 0.5 W output power.
