Description
Summary:0.9BiNbO 4 –0.1ZnNb 2 O 6 ceramics with the sintering agent, CuO–V 2 O 5 , were sintered at low firing temperatures of 850–900 °C. The degradation of dielectric loss in the cofiring process with the Ag electrode has been studied with the change of the sintering conditions. It was found that the degradation occurred primarily due to the formation of pores and second phases. After Ag-electrode application and subsequent cofiring, silver was detected at the interface of BiNbO 4 –ZnNb 2 O 6 /electrode. X-ray diffraction analysis of the BiNbO 4 –ZnNb 2 O 6 ceramics cofired with Ag-electrode showed a second phase formation. This reaction revealed an interaction between the silver and the niobium. The microwave dielectric properties of the 0.9BiNbO 4 –0.1ZnNb 2 O 6 ceramics cofired with Ag electrode with increasing sintering time were associated with an increase in porosity and second phase formation including Ag and Nb ions.
