Summary:Genetic improvement uses optimisation and machine learning techniques, particularly heuristic search and evolutionary algorithms, to improve existing software. The main application is automatic bug fixing, where reducing or eliminating buggy behaviour improves a program. Other applications involve automatically producing a better program that runs faster, uses less memory, uses less energy, or runs on a different type of computer. This article summarise two international events exclusively devoted to this topic in 2018.
