Summary: | This paper describes an effort to recover and improve software architecture in a large-scale industrial project. We describe our motivation for architecture recovery and present a summary of its results. We also attempt to generalize our findings by arguing that the current level of understanding of software architecture is not sufficient to determine in advance which factors will be important (i.e., "architectural") for a software product in the long term. |
