Summary: | Distinct membrane electrode assemblies (MEAs) fabricated of three electrocatalysts with different nano-structural orientation of Pt particles were studied in terms of ex-situ and in-situ electrochemical activity by a liquid electrolyte cell and a single-cell PEMFC respectively. The results exhibited that the electrochemical performance and durability are highly influenced by the dispersion of platinum nanoparticles over the matrix of the support. The variations of the electrochemical performances with respect to pure isolated Pt particles, a film of networked nanoparticles and a mixture of individual particles and aggregated ones were presented with addresses to fuel cell performances. |
