Summary: | Molten salts have proven to be an ideal medium for the development of a number of electrochemical processes. However, there is a real need in such processes for techniques to be developed which are able to sense and analyse the properties of redox active species in the extreme conditions found in molten salts. This paper reports the work undertaken to develop a system for the characterisation of microelectrodes in molten LiCl-KCl eutectic and demonstrates for the first time using the Ag+/Ag plating/stripping system the production and characterisation of microelectrodes through photolithography which are able to measure redox characteristics with the expected enhanced characteristics compared to macroelectrode measurements. |
