Integrated Methanol Steam Reformer/Electrochemical Hydrogen Compressor
An electrochemical hydrogen compressor (EHC) based on a solid acid electrolyte is built. The EHC operates at temperatures from 230 to 250 °C. The EHC can be used to separate hydrogen from simulated reformate containing more than 2 % CO. The EHC can be directly combined with a methanol steam reformer...

Summary: | An electrochemical hydrogen compressor (EHC) based on a solid acid electrolyte is built. The EHC operates at temperatures from 230 to 250 °C. The EHC can be used to separate hydrogen from simulated reformate containing more than 2 % CO. The EHC can be directly combined with a methanol steam reformer (MSR). The electrochemical hydrogen compressor with an internal reformer is tested with methanol. The MSR/EHC has the capability of generating hydrogen from methanol, separating hydrogen from impurities, and compressing hydrogen to high pressures. |
