Using Natural Sorbent Luffa Cylindrica as a Conductive Component for Positive Electrodes of Lithium-Sulfur Batteries

Summary: | Lithium-sulfur batteries (LSBs or Li-S batteries) have a potential to replace Li-ion batteries in various applications due to their higher theoretical capacity (1672 mAh g-1) and potentially low price. However, to achieve that, several issues must be solved. Some of the issues could be solved or at least suppressed by using new types of biodegradable materials such as Luffa cylindrica. Fully ripen and dry out fruit of Luffa cylindrica has a potential to be used in various scientific experiments thanks to its strongly fibrous, porous and therefore lightweight structure. The premise of this paper is to use this kind of natural material as a conductive structure for positive electrodes of lithium-sulfur cells. |
