Summary: | Polyurethane sponge was loaded with iron powder alone or in mixture with Si, Ag or Mg. The polyurethane substrate was removed by pyrolysis in an inert atmosphere to 1000 - 1100 oC. Corrosion in physiologic solution was studied. The aim is to produce biodegradable metallic implants. The corrosion was influenced by addition of H2O2 or tartaric acid in order to simulate the condition in vivo. The tartaric acid caused increase of sample mass, while corrosive dissolution was observed in the other cases. Hydrogen peroxide accelerated the corrosion |
