Description
Summary:We have designed one dimensional photonic crystals of Silica /Metal oxides (Alumina and ZnO), Silica/Graphite oxide on DNA template and investigated their optical responses in the 200 -2000 nm region of electromagnetic wave spectra theoretically using transfer matrix method (TMM). It is observed that in the presence of DNA template, the number, width and position of the photonic band gap are changed significantly. These results point that DNA templated proposed photonic crystals can be used for tuning the bandgap for desired spectra. This feature of DNA templated photonic crystals can be used for enhancing the transmission properties of photonic crystals. By tuning the bandgap effect for the desired frequency, the DNA templated photonic crystals can be applied for sensing the biomarkers. The theoretical results show that the DNA templated Silica based photonic crystals will be a promise for cost effective and fast responding label free biosensing applications.
