Description
Summary:Glass-ceramics of lithium chloroboracite Li 4 B 4 Al 3 O 12 Cl, an oxychloride with a wide electrochemical window of ∼0–6 V vs Li/Li + , were employed as solid electrolytes in solid-state rechargeable lithium metal batteries. These glass-ceramics were stable against short-term (∼1 h) immersion in water. Test cells consisting of a LiCoO 2 -based composite cathode and Li-rich Li–Au alloy anode delivered an initial discharge capacity of ∼135 mAh g −1 and good average Coulombic efficiency of ∼99.3% under operation at 60 °C. These results confirm the compatibility of Li 4 B 4 Al 3 O 12 Cl-based glass-ceramics with solid-state rechargeable lithium metal batteries employing 4 V-class transition metal oxide cathodes.
