Description
Summary:In this presentation we describe strategies that will yield substantial enhancements in the analytical performance of fluorescence-based biochip platforms, especially for biomedical diagnostic applications. In particular, the focus is on optimisation of the signal-to-noise ratio (SNR) with a view to lowering the limit of detection (LOD). These strategies include exploitation of plasmonic effects and high-brightness doped-silica nanoparticles. The advantages offered by capturing supercritical angle fluorescence (SAF) are also covered.
