Summary: | Tubular solid oxide fuel cells present particular design advantages to stack and system development, including robust component strength, and simple sealing approaches in stack design. Anode supported tubular technology provides a path to thin electrolyte membranes through co-sintering during cell manufacturing. In coordination with CoorsTek, NexTech Materials has developed a SOFC fuel cell component for researchers and product developers, (Figure 1). The baseline cell performance for the ASC tubes is shown in Figure 2, demonstrating performance of representative cells at temperatures of 750 and 850{degree sign}C. The cell development has been performed through the evaluation and down-selection of materials and processes to assure performance stability, reproducibility and cost-effectiveness at high volume production. |
