Description
Summary:The relationship between C3 phenotypes and anti bodies against blood group antigens A and B were studied in 251 sera from newly delivered mothers and in 289 blood donor sera. Among the mothers an association was found between high titres of anti-A or anti-B and the C3 S gene. This difference was most pronounced in cases of ABO incompatibility between mother and infant thus suggesting an association between C3 types and immune antibodies. Among the blood donors no association was found between C3 type and isoagglutinin titre.
