Description
Summary:A review of information sources for obtaining up-to-date, reliable and accessible material on new sensors for earth observation by nonscience team personnel is presented. The Earth Observing System (EOS) is used as a case study, focusing on the Moderate Resolution Imaging Spectroradiometer (MODIS) with some consideration of the High Resolution Imaging Spectrometer (HIRIS). The information sources evaluated are books, conference proceedings, technical reports, promotional literature, journal articles and electronic information. The evalu ation suggests that each information source has its own strengths and weaknesses. Each of the media can provide useful and reliable information to those new to EOS. It is suggested that electronic information, journal articles and NASA promotional literature are the key media to gain a reliable appreciation of EOS and MODIS science objectives and technical information and further to research an individual interest.
