Summary:With the advent of Industry 4.0, predictive maintenance (PdM) is revolutionising maintenance procedures across various industries. The integration of advanced technologies, such as artificial intelligence (AI), the internet of things (IoT) and big data, is enhancing the potential of PdM in sectors including non-traditional sectors such as nuclear infrastructure, logistics and healthcare. This study highlights the development of PdM within Industry 4.0 and its impact on the financial and operational facets of numerous industries. It underscores the need for continuous innovation and adaptation in PdM strategies, emphasising the necessity for substantial investments in training, technology and the cultivation of a workforce skilled in digital technologies and data analytics. To fully capitalise on this dynamic field, the study stresses the importance of staying abreast of industry advancements, evaluating new tools and refining maintenance practices.
