Summary:Rural entrepreneurs make vital contribution to economic growth. People who carry out entrepreneurial activities by setting up industrial and business units in the rural sectors of the economy may be defined as rural entrepreneurs. This research is based on an empirical study that reviews literature of various authors at different periods. For this research, secondary data regarding micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs) have been collected and analysed to draw conclusions. Keeping the above facts in view, an attempt was made to study the present position of MSMEs, amount invested and employment generated, and problems and prospects of rural entrepreneurs with special reference to the Mayurbhanj district.
