Summary: | Renal and ureteric colic describes acute onset, severe flank pain. It is caused by an obstruction within the renal collecting system or ureter and is primarily precipitated by stones. In this article, our aim is to discuss the etiology of renal colic, its management in primary care, and indications for secondary care referral. We will also discuss risk factors for stone formation and the available prevention advice. |
