Description
Summary:Malignant peripheral nerve sheath tumor (MPNST) is a rare tumor of oral cavity. Tongue is an extremely rare site for MPNST. We present a rare case of MPNST of tongue in a 34-year-old male. Presentation remains same as carcinoma of tongue but histopathology and immunohistochemistry help to establish the diagnosis. Biopsy of lesion was suggestive of malignant spindle cell neoplasm. On immunohistochemical examination, tumor cells were immunopositive for vimentin and S100 and SMA. Patient underwent surgery followed by adjuvant radiotherapy in order to reduce the risk of recurrence.
