Synthesis and characterisation of aliphatic amides in application to surface protection
Aliphatic amides were synthesised in the laboratory using analytical grade fatty acids and isopropyl amine. Summary: | Aliphatic amides were synthesised in the laboratory using analytical grade fatty acids and isopropyl amine. These amides were then characterised for corrosion inhibition and surface protection properties. The amides were found to inhibit corrosion of carbon steel in 3 wt-% sodium chloride solution. Surface analysis using X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy revealed that the mechanism of inhibition is chemisorption type of adsorption. |
