Description
Summary:LEARNING OBJECTIVESedentary behavior will be defined and differentiated from physical inactivity. The reader will learn about the negative health implications associated with sedentary behavior and how to break up continuous bouts of sedentary activities with physical movement. SUMMARY STATEMENTExcessive periods of sedentary behavior can be detrimental to one’s health, independent of achieving recommended amounts of daily physical activity. Simply reducing sedentary time by incorporating multiple short breaks of physical movement at least every 60 minutes during continuous bouts of sedentary behavior may reduce the risk for disease.
