This paper explores the concept of routine across multiple disciplines, including sociology, psychology, and organizational studies, highlighting its implications in healthcare, nursing, and research. Method. An overview of the literature. Conclusions. Given the lack of conceptual clarity in the concept of routine, which may aff ect the development of nursing, recommendations on research are off ered.
