Visible-wavelength and monostatic coherent transceiver with independent second harmonic generation on transmitted and local lights using commercially available lithium niobate phase modulator for fundamental wavelength

We propose what we believe to be a new monostatic coherent transceiver at visible wavelength using a commercially available lithium niobate (LiNbO3) phase modulator (LNPM), which is capable of high-speed, wide-bandwidth, and multi-functional operation. Description
Summary:We propose what we believe to be a new monostatic coherent transceiver at visible wavelength using a commercially available lithium niobate (LiNbO3) phase modulator (LNPM), which is capable of high-speed, wide-bandwidth, and multi-functional operation. The proposed coherent transceiver needs successful heterodyne detection with independent second harmonic generation (SHG) on transmitted and local lights. Experimental proof of the above-mentioned heterodyne detection is shown. The proof of concept for the application to continuous-waves coherent Doppler lidar (CW-CDL) is shown in both free-space and underwater sensing. Preliminary experiment regarding high-speed and wide-bandwidth modulation is additionally shown.
