Summary:A lower extremity constraint-induced (CI) movement therapy protocol developed at the University of Alabama was used to treat three stroke patients suffering from hemiplegia. Upon intervention, both walking speed and stability improved, reliance on assistance from an accompanying individual or support device decreased, and both improvements to standing position during daily activities and walking activity were seen.
