Description
Summary:Publication of the interesting report of implantation of a cardiac pacemaker in a 4-month-old infant by Martin, et al. (Pediatrics, 37:323, 1966), raises the question of pacemaker selection for the infant with heart block. The Cordis Atriocor Synchronous type of pacemaker is probably best for this condition because it is possible to vary the ventricular rate according to the needs of the body at rest and during exercise over a fairly wide range. The advantage of this pacer is that atrial activity is in control of pacemaker function over a physiological range of heart rates.
