Summary: | I feel compelled to comment upon Dr. Gorlick's letter to the editor in the November 1975 issue of Pediatrics (page 839). As director of a Children and Youth Program, I do not feel that, in any way, I am abusing a child by adequately treating him for an infectious disease. As director of a program which makes widespread use of family intervention,1 I can easily document the number of pills which remain on families' shelves long after their useful life; consequently, I can document the many unresolved cases of streptococcal pharyngitis, otitis media, impetigo, and the like. |
