Summary: | To The Editor.—
Because of their physical vulnerability and diminutive stature, infants and children often are assumed by the general public and by some health professionals to be more susceptible to the potential toxic effects of the chemicals found in the environment. An analysis based on available data, however, suggests that the answer clearly depends on the substance and the exposure situation. In some cases, there may be no difference at all in the responses of children and adults. |
