Description
Summary:This work presents an assessment of the mechanical adhesion and corrosion resistance of the hybrid PMMA-SiO 2 coatings applied to an X52 steel substrate. The hybrid composite coating was obtained by dispersing the nanoparticles of SiO 2 into a polymeric matrix of PMMA in concentrations of 1.0 wt.%. The study of corrosion behavior in synthetic seawater was carried out using electrochemical techniques. The results were complemented by optical and scanning electron microscopy characterization. The corrosion and the adhesion measurements of the coatings displayed excellent performance in corrosion resistance, and the iron phosphate method for surface preparation also improved the adhesion and corrosion resistance.
