Description
Summary:The purpose of this document is to provide an initial description of the intonation features of the Spanish language in contact with the Otomi language spoken in San Ildefonso Tultepec. The declarative and interrogative statements used by bilingual speakers are described and compared, and similarities and differences regarding the Mexican Spanish StandardVariety are traced (De-la-Mota, Martín Butragueño and Prieto, 2010). The study lies within the autosegmental (AM) metrical model and follows the considerations of the Sp-ToBI transcription system, set forth by Estebas-Vilaplana and Prieto (2008). The results show similarities among the declarative and interrogative statements used by bilingual speakers. However, there are clear differences regarding the standard variety.
