Description
Summary:Removal of aluminum, copper, zinc, iron and lead was monitored by using graphite furnace atomic absorption spectrometry (GFAAS), in five renal patients undergoing peritoneal dialysis and receiving a chelation therapy with desferrioxamine B. Aluminum losses were between 0.3 and 6.7mg; mean removal of 42±5μg Pb was obtained. Copper, zinc and iron were not significantly affected. GFAAS proved to be useful to follow up metal changes in humans.
