Summary:The unused and mysterious Linnaean name Clitoria lactescens, for which no original material exists, has by some been considered a synonym of Galactia pendula, a junior name that it would thus displace. This synonymy is rejected because the validating description of C. lactescens does not fit G. pendula, and the foprmer name is neotypified in such a way that it is no longer a threat to any currently used name.
