Summary: | Spatial and temporal distribution patterns were evaluated for ten species of African anurans breeding in an ephemeral pond. Each species was most abundant at a particular time and location, and the most common species were the most distinct in this regard. Spatial and temporal separation appears to be a possible isolating mechanism among the species. Factors influencing the number of anurans seen at a particular time were also investigated and predictive equations are presented. |
