Summary:Since the middle of the nineteen-fifties, chemical analyses of approximately 1275 wild ammals have been performed at the State Veterinary Medical Institute in Stockholm. Considerable amounts of mercury have been found in the tissues of seed-eating birds and their predators, and even in small rodents. Experimental work has been performed to get an idea of the significance of the residues found.
