Description
Summary:Croton scutatus is newly described and illustrated. It is currently known from three widely separated areas in the western portion of the Guayana Shield. It shows an interesting transition in trichome types on different parts of the plant, and it possesses a suite of characters that make its sectional placement in the genus problematical. Its closest relative may be Croton guaiquinimae from higher elevations on the Guyana Shield
