Summary:This paper reports the values of a number of physical and chemical parameters for six high altitude ponds investigated during the summers of 1965 and 1972. Transfers of zooplankton from pond to pond reported here and in the literature suggest that the existence of two different species associations in these ponds is not directly due to the summer water conditions. The ponds were rather acidic and therefore likely to be very susceptible to acid rain, given their low conductivity and buffering capability There is no evidence of a significant pH decrease between 1965 and 1972.
