Summary: | A total of 83 public administration interns were surveyed at the beginning and end of their 21-month placements regarding their attitudes about five aspects of democratic government. This comparison revealed that although there were no changes in the students' concern with voting or their interest in politics, they became both less efficacious about and more cynical toward government. They also lost interest in working for the State of Illinois. These findings are evaluated in relation to their implications for students, instructors, agency sponsors, and internship administrators. |
