Identity of Silvius rufipes (Diptera: Tabanidae)

Restudy of the holotype of Silvius rufipes Macquart 1850 proves that it belongs in Protodasyapha Enderlein. The species was described from Corrientes, Argentina in error; it is actually Chilean. Genitalia and head structures of the unique female type are figured.
