Summary: | The interrelations at the site of a feeder, the winter home range and dominance rank were studied in male Great Tits during four successive winters. In juvenile males, both those leaving the population at the end of the winter as well as those recruited to the next breeding population, dominance rank was not influenced by the site of the feeder. In contrast, the social position of adult males was in some years clearly affected by the site of the feeder. During the territorial period (March-April) the site of the feeder as a determinant of dominance, in settled males, was not always clear. |
